Deans of HBS, Wharton, Stanford & CBS to discuss future of Management Education

With Columbia Business School completing its 100th year in the sector of management education, Dean Glenn Hubbard announced 15 months of various events to commemorate this milestone. CBS has been consistent in shaping leaders who not only work for the realm of business, but also for the society that they so very much are a part of.

To mark this joyous occasion, deans from top business schools like the HBS, Wharton, Stanford among others would attend the Centennial Symposium: A Century of Impact, a Future of Innovation on May 2, 2016 at the Columbia University.

What is the Future of Management Education?

This is the first of the three distinctive discussions taking place as a part of the Symposium. It will mainly focus upon addressing the obstacles faced by educators in training their students in a world where the pre-requisite to being a successful business leader is continuously evolving. The changing dynamics of the business sector has to be kept in mind while designing a course that will sufficiently prepare a to-be entrepreneur before stepping out into grueling reality.

The panel comprises of esteemed members of business education including:

  1. Geoffrey Garrett, Dean of Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania
  2. Glenn Hubbard, Dean of Columbia Business School
  3. Nitin Nohria, Dean of Harvard Business School
  4. Garth Saloner, Dean of Stanford Graduate School of Business

The conversation will be moderated by Jan Hopkins, Former Anchor and Correspondent with CNN and the owner of The Jan Hopkins Group. The symposium is FREE for CBS students, faculty and staff members, and alumni.

A Centennial dinner will mark the end of the Symposium, and the fifteen-month long celebrations at the CBS. In a statement issued, Dean Hubbard said, “Since its inception, Columbia Business School has always been defined by the impact our community has made. As new challenges arise in future economics, I’m confident that our community will continue to be at the center of solving these challenges and creating a more prospect world for all.” The school has played a landmark role in shaping the dynamics of education, and we hope that this symposium will help it to further its global impact and usher in a new centennial of brilliance. Other interested attendees can get on the waitlist, as registration is at capacity.
