The Vice Dean of Wharton’s MBA Program for Executives, Anjani Jain, is moving to Yale School of Management as Senior Associate Dean starting July 1, 2012. Anjani has been a member of the Wharton community since 1994.
Education
Anjani graduated from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) in 1979. IIM-A is considered to be the premier management education institute in India, attracting some of the country’s best brains. Anjani often credits his time at IIM-A for having broadened his horizons, leading him to eventually coming to USA on scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. program at UCLA, from where he graduated in 1987.
Career at Wharton
Now 26 years is a long time. For some readers, it may be longer than they have lived. It is a testament to Anjani’s commitment to and excellence in his work that he stayed here for the length of time that he did.
At Wharton, Anjani began his career as a member of the Standing Faculty in the Decision Sciences Department (now Operations and Information Management) and continued his career at Wharton as a member of the department, serving as a member of the adjunct faculty department since 1994.
Anjani has also been part of the graduate leadership at Wharton since 1994 – first as Vice Dean and Director of Wharton Graduate Division, and then as Vice Dean, Wharton MBA Program for Executives (since 2010).
Recognition & Awards
Anjani has won multiple teaching awards for his teaching prowess over the years. He has been a five-time recipient of the Miller Sherrerd award for teaching in the Core Curriculum as well as Excellence in Teaching award twice, among other awards.
Notable Achievements
Anjani has made numerous contributions to the Wharton MBA Programs – specifically, development and implementation of the MBA course auction, enhancing the elective course offering and introduction of the Global Modular Courses.
New Beginnings
In an email statement sent out to the Wharton community at large, Dean Thomas S. Robertson recognized Anjani’s achievements at Wharton and thanked Anjani for his outstanding service and dedication to Wharton. Dean Robertson also called upon the community to join him in wishing Anjani well in his future endeavors.
