On 15 May 2014, Stanford GSB announced its MBA essays and deadlines for the year 2014-15 i.e. for the Class of 2017. The application itself will go live in early July.

While Stanford has kept the dates more or less the same (moving the date for each round up by one day), it has reduced one essay question.

Stanford’s MBA Essay Questions for 2014-15 are:

Essay #1: What matters most to you and why? (750 words)

Essay #2: Why Stanford? (350 words)

The net reduction in the essay word count this year is 500 words. The “Why Stanford” essay used to be 450 words up until last year and there was an additional essay question for 400 words.

Stanford’s MBA application deadlines for 2014-15 are:

Round Deadline
One 1 October 2014
Two 7 January 2015
Three 1 April 2015

For Indian applicants, it’s noteworthy to note the Reliance Dhirubhai MBA Fellowship application deadline i.e. 13 June 2014.

The fellowship provides financial support (tuition and associated fees) to MBA candidates of about $145,000 for the two years. One pre-condition of the fellowship is the mandate for recipients to return to India within two years of graduation to work for an Indian organization for a minimum of two years.

While there may be as many as 50 Reliance Dhirubhai Finalists, these finalists still have to undergo the application process to Stanford, which is separate. Each year, there are a maximum of five awards made by Stanford.
